Orefice Baseball Academy
Our mission is to provide individuals with superior experience and knowledge through a family staff that has played and coached at the highest levels. The game of baseball parallels life and its lessons. Our staff will facilitate and help guide our players through those experiences that develop character, dedication, accountability, sportsmanship and pride.
- Steve Orefice
Steve Orefice founded Orefice Baseball Academy in November of 2014. He will be entering an Under Armour Collegiate Team into the Hudson Valley Collegiate Baseball League (HVCBL) in the Summer of 2018. He most recently coached the 18u Dutchess ACES Showcase Team out of Dutchess Community College for Coach Al Hammell. Orefice led the 17U Field Generals Showcase Team for two consecutive seasons in 2014 and 2015. A key highlight of the 2014 Field General Season was finishing 3rd out of 75 Teams in the Diamond Nation Super 17 World Series Wood Bat Championship located in Flemington, NJ. Steve also brings valuable AAU Travel Baseball coaching experience with the Long Island Titans Baseball Organization – Ronkonkoma, NY and Hardball – Elmsford, NY. He also has extensive experience running catching clinics, camps, and giving private instruction to players and coaches for the Town of Poughkeepsie Babe Ruth Baseball Program and the Renegades Pitch 4 Kids Program.
Orefice began his collegiate baseball career at Dutchess Community College under Head Coach, Steve Greller in 2007. He controlled the diamond behind the dish and also played 1B for the Falcons. He transferred after his sophomore season to LIU Post – Division II where he finished his remaining years of eligibility at the helm of Catcher/First Base. The LIU Post Pioneers clinched a 2010 ECC Championship during his tenure. Steve received a Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Marketing at LIU Post. During his collegiate years, Orefice played 5 seasons and was nominated Team Captain of the Wappingers Yankees Ball Club in the Hudson Valley Collegiate Baseball League. He led the Yankees to four-straight championships during his stay. Orefice played for the New York Black Sox for three seasons and the New York Mariners for two seasons in the Hudson Valley National Adult Baseball Association (HVNABA). His Black Sox recently won the 2014 & 2017 League Championship Trophy. Prior to LIU Post, Orefice graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 2006 and was a member of the Varsity Baseball Team from 2004-2006 under Head Coach, Pat Mealy. He compiled a 17-1 career record on the mound while the Ketcham Indians made two appearances in the NY State Class AA Championship in Binghamton, NY during their 2004-2005 campaigns. The Indians came out victorious in 2005 to win their first ever New York State Championship in school history!
